Homeless Emergency Housing Program
Since December 2020, the City has been operating a Homeless Emergency Housing Program to provide non-congregate emergency housing for the City’s unhoused population. The program initiated with the acquisition of a 40-unit motel site in response to the COVID 19 pandemic to provide emergency housing to one of the City’s most vulnerable populations. This initial site was acquired with assistance from the State’s Homekey Program, Yolo County ARP funds and local funds, including Community Development Block Grant funds and Measure E funds. In June 2023, the City acquired a second 21-unit motel site to expand the Homeless Emergency Housing Program and in September 2024, two additional motel sites (with a combined 40+ rooms) were acquired to further expand the homeless emergency housing offerings. The Homeless Emergency Housing Program is an integral part of the City’s homeless initiatives and provides case management, housing navigation and other supportive services to program participants. Placements to the Homeless Emergency Housing Program are managed by the City’s Homeless Coordinator who works collaboratively with case managers Yolo County Health and Human Services and other homeless service providers.
